On 15 March 2017, two boys came running out of their dormitories at the Catholic Hostel in Bethanie. A small electrical short-circuit caused a fire to ignite that would eventually lead to three dormitories being burnt down. Inside those dormitories were the possessions of twenty-two boys who were left with just the clothes on their backs. Thankfully no one was injured during this ordeal.

It's a sad fact of life that accidents like these will happen, even more, tragic when it involves children, but we need to realize that it is what we do afterwards that makes the difference. There are better ways to handle a scenario like this than to point fingers at a broken down fire truck, there is a road forward and how we can rebuild and assist in the process to give back to these children what was lost.

Hollard Namibia donated 25 single-bed mattresses to the value of N$ 10,000.00 to make sure that we play our part in the rebuilding process of the hostel. We implore people to show their support when incidents like these happen, as most of these children rely solely on the goodwill of others for their facilities. We are proud to have played a role in giving back to these boys what was lost and will continue to do our utmost best in assisting however we can when accidents like these happen.
